1989 Pro Set Owners Edition Binder

Description: Pro Set decided to give away copies of their inaugural set to executives, owners, and coaches. I am sure the list is longer, but I have yet to confirm any others. A soft black binder was produced with gold lettering and the words "Owners Edition" stamped on the front bottom right. The binder included only series I cards (1-440) and a copy of the Pro Set Gazette Volume 1, Issue 1. It is not known if any inserts or promos were included. For the "important" people in the NFL, binders were made with their names printed on the front. Jerry Glanville's binder is confirmed to exist with this variation.

For the record, and to drive us collectors nuts, at least two binders are needed to complete a Master Set! One with and one without a name printed on the front. *wink*
Furthermore: This set cannot possibly be as boring as just 440 cards and a copy of the gazette magazine. Pro Set would most assuredly print some sort of card(s) only found in these sets, like the "explanation cards" found in the 1989 Pro Set Errors & Variations Binder. I have tried to purchase one of these binders on several occasions, but they are either not for sale or the asking price is outrageously high.

ReplyDeleteI have a - well, "the" - Paul Tagliabue binder that I'm considering auctioning on eBay if anyone is interested. The binder cover is not in great shape, looking as though it spent several years in a basement or attic gathering dust, but all 440 Series 1 cards are there, seemingly undisturbed, along with 23 bonus Super Bowl cards in the back.
